And now for the fun part of this Interview series of getting to know your authors.

BBF: To start things off, why don’t you tell us a little bit about yourself, your books?
KM: Raised mostly in rural Iowa, I am an Army Brat who has finally settled in the mountain town of Flagstaff, AZ. A graduate from Cottey College and Northern Arizona University, I am currently working as a pediatric ICU nurse. I decided to start chronicling my journey to help all the other Fat Girls out there. I mostly identifies with the villains/villainesses in a fairy tale. I am not like those fairytale Princesses. I do not have sunshine and song coming out of my butt and I don’t need anyone to save me. I prefer to lurk in the shadows and cause mayhem. I live with my cat, Daisy May AKA The Ninja Kitten and have a secret stash of original Skittles for the apocalypse.  My books are plain and simple about my life…a funny journey filled with what it is like to be a Fat Girl in today’s society.  They are full of laughs as my life can be quite weird.

BBF: I have to say, when I saw your website URL––, I was like what??? But now I get it! I do. Okay. So moving onto next question. Where do you come up with the ideas for your stories?
KM: My life.  It is so funny I have to share. I honestly can’t make this stuff up. Oh and my BFF…much to her dismay.

BBF: Do you see yourself writing in the same genre? How important or not important is including romance in what you write?
KM: I am actually trying my hand at fiction now but I won’t stop blogging.  You can’t make me!  I have things to say!  Romance….well I don’t know.  I mean, I like to read it, but I don’t hink people need to hear about a Fat Girl’s sexcapades….or do they?

BBF: This is something I’m always curious about, probably because I’m so picky about it when I write, but how do you choose names for your characters? Is it whatever comes to mind, or do they have meaning?
KM:  Since all my stuff is based on real people in real situation, I give them acronyms.  They are actually quite proud of their Fat Girl names and label stuff with them.  It’s kind of creepy.  They are like stalkers.

BBF: How do you choose the titles for your books? And do the titles usually come before or after you’ve written the novels?
KM: I don’t choose the titles of my books.  No really.  My BFF does.  They are all under The Running Experiment series because that is what I used to call my blog, but the rest of the title…that is all her.  She insists on it and my publisher loves it.  In fact, she has already named book 4 in the series.

BBF: Seems you’re pretty close with you BFF. Okay, that was a totally oxymoron thing to say, seeing as she’s your BFF after all. lol. *shakes head* Okay. Moving on. Who’s your favorite villain from your books? Who is it and why?
KM: I guess you could say Silence of the Lambs Guy is my villain.  Or maybe it is really The Snowplow Guy.  I hate him.

BBF: Serious? I LOVED Anthony Hopkins in that role. He was simply brilliant. Do you have a favorite character from your books? Who is it and why?
KM: My BFF is my favorite.  She is hysterical and my adventures would not be complete without her.

BBF: Can you tell us a bit about your writing process? How long does it usually take? And is the process the same for each of your books?
KM: My writing process is like this:  open computer.  Stare at page.  Have idea.  Start writing.  Stare at screen.  Fuck around on Facebook for hours.  Stare at screen some more.  Eat all the things.  Finally write.  Erase what I wrote because it is total shit and start over.

BBF: *stares blankly* *Blinks* I think I know what you mean. Good to know it’s not just me. What has been your favorite thing about being an author?
KM: The fans.  I have some amazing fans who support me, share my stuff and stalk me.  Some call it stalking,  I call it love.

BBF: What are you currently working on? And what can we expect from you in the future?
KM: I am constantly blogging since the books rely on that.  Also, I might be trying to write some fiction.  We shall see how that goes.  I might need a box of wine to get through it.

BBF: I wish I had the zeal to blog as much as I like to, but *squirrel*. lol Okay, so this is a very important question. What are you most looking forward to about visiting Boise Book Fest?
KM: Meeting new readers!  This will be my first signing.  I am terrified nobody will come up to my table so let’s hope that doesn’t happen or I might have to rely on strip tease t get people over….or I might get arrested doing that so maybe not.

BBF: YAAY! We’re sooo glad that Boise Book Fest will be YOUR FIRST signing! Hope you have a fantastic time. Before we say our goodbyes, can you tell us something random about yourself? Just for funsies. And then that favorite character you mentioned–can you tell us something random about them, too?
KM: Random fact:  I am totally an introvert.  I have some really good RBF sometimes because of it.  It’s awesome.  Don’t let it frighten you.  And BFF?  She bites.  For reals.  Watch out.

BBF: LOL. Really? I think I’m liking this BFF of yours! Maybe she’d be willing to come to Boise Book Fest so our readers can meet her? *Raises an eyebrow*
